Weekend Events

Hello again!

Please remember that I'm adding information little by little and that the page is a little bit more interactive. For those of you who aren't big bloggers, if you roll the mouse over the menu, you can open up different windows (ie. Weekend Events) to see more.

Wedding Flowers

*******************

I'm so excited to have just ordered my wedding flowers. I can't wait for them to get here next week so I can start arranging. I can't believe we're less than two weeks away!

Save Your Seat

*******************

Hi everyone!

With less than two weeks to go, I'm waiting on a couple of "stragglers" (lol- you know who you are!) to let us know if you'll be coming as today is my "deadline" for the head count for the caterer and other rentals (including chairs!) Please call us on Russ's phone: 830.225.0477 for anything you might need. Some of you may still be waiting on invitations. As I mentioned, I did get a couple back but please call. We'd really love to have you :)

Invitation, R.S.V.P. and Directions

*******************

Several invitations have been sent back (interesting how a few required more postage). Nonetheless, I'm posting an electronic version of the invitations/r.s.v.p. cards/directions for those of you who may still need them. If you click on the actual images, they will enlarge and if you'd like, you can print them. As far as directions, Kristin had made some very clear signs that you all will be able to follow :)

Please check the blog regularly over the next two weeks as there is information we'd like to communicate to you, en masse.

We're so excited to see you all and are working on the last details of the weekend. Again, please feel free to email us or call if you have any questions or suggestions.

Two Weeks!

*******************

Egad- time is flying. Today I've been on the phone trying to get a final head count for the wedding. If for some reason you have not received your invitation or have any questions about accommodations, please don't hesitate to call me (912.429.3298) or Russ
(830.225.0477). We're asking that everyone stay downtown in Savannah's Historic District. I found out from a friend that many B&B's are offering specials and they're a beautiful alternative to a hotel.

This afternoon is my final fitting so I must run and finish making my veil :)

Three More Weekends

Good Morning!

It's Saturday and Russ and I are off to the beach for the morning for a much needed half day off. When we get back, I have my final dress fitting and then it's into junk clothes for house painting. I'll revisit the blog later this afternoon to provide ideas for hotels downtown here in Savannah if you have not booked yet. If you've made reservations, please let me know where you will all be staying so we can compile a list. If you have received the invitation, and have not yet r.s.v.p.ed, please do so at: anissadesigns@hotmail.com with names and numbers of guests. We are so excited to see you all soon!

Twenty Three Days

*******************

Twenty three days is hard for me to grasp! Two weeks have been spent in cyber world re-validating my existence after a hacker blocked use of my email *and* Facebook accounts. I do apologize for any and all inconveniences it has caused. And do know, I have not "defriended" anyone :)

On a bridal note, as you can all imagine, things have been crazy here on the Savannah front. Envelopes have been made, licked and mailed. *Please* contact me if you have not received your invitation to date at: anissadesigns@hotmail.com

The above picture is inspiration for the wedding decor. I have things and colors in mind. Let's see what we can do in three weeks.

The Dress

*******************

After a ridiculously long and arduous ordeal, Russ and I are finally back. It has been said that to measure the strength of a relationship, you should travel together. We agreed that if you really want to test the strength of those bonds you should travel together, around the other side of the world, with cats.

We've hit the ground running since our Wednesday night arrival and hope to pace ourselves for all of the new adventures in the coming months. While Russ was taking care of some paperwork, my maid of honor, Kristin and I went to Bleubelle Bridal in search of the perfect dress.

Fresh off the boat, so to speak, in a semi conscious state of a thirteen hour time change in my body with 100 degrees of Savannah sauna outside, I was wonderfully and surprisingly mellow. Always a bridesmaid and never a bride, this was the first time I'd ever tried on wedding gowns. I am blessed to have a tremendously organized bridesmaid. You have to be in order to help your friend plan a garden wedding in Georgia when the bride to be (moi) is living literally on the other side of the world!

She made the appointment and upon arrival we were welcomed by the lovely Shannon. After greeting us, she returned with Bellinis in hand and helped Kristin and I select a few gowns for me to try on.

Bleubelle has a lovely collection with a variety of designers, but, not surprisingly, I only had eyes for Wang. I've always had what I consider a very classic, and therefore pricey taste but never the budget to match. I remember shopping for my prom dress in the Village at the Antique Boutique knowing that I had very little to work with. I came home with a pretty, though dated dark green velvet dress. To my utter amazement, my mother and father surprised me with a box containing this beautiful midnight blue Jessica McClintock prom dress- with matching dyed shoes!

It was a perfect night and it started with the dress. I began to feel the same way as I slipped, or should I say, walked into the first dress. I felt a little like a thirteen year old tomboy playing dress-up. For many women, we forget we are women until we look in the mirrors and see ourselves in arrayed in such splendor. Feeling a little awkward, Shannon and Kristin encouraged me to move around in the weight of dress number one. It was beautiful.

But oh my, the next dress. It was a model being sold and amazingly discounted by the boutique. And, to my delight, a Vera Wang. All three of us stopped. Another consultant in a different part of the shop said she was not able to stop looking. It was the dress. Shannon, the graceful and calming consultant she was, simply told me that she had seen many people try on that dress and that honestly it was made for me. And there it was: the simplest, quietest dress shopping I think Kristin and I would ever experience.

97 Days...

*******************

... until the wedding and twenty two until we're back in the States. Russ and I are focusing on closing down shop here in Korea so that includes lots of soccer, visits, packing, BBQs and such. It's unbelievable that we'll have been here seven months. We hope to hit the ground running in terms of wedding planning. Please stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for hotel and bridal party info. Hope you all had a lovely 4th!

Nice Decorating Idea

*******************

I really like this simple framed print, perhaps for the tables. Of course I'm partial to the color and the simplicity of the pattern. I know the vase is not featured, but I'd love to find a bunch like them as table centerpieces.

My Lovely Etsy Purchase

*******************

I'm excited to use these dishes for the wedding dessert table that I bought last night from Dandelion Girl. Have a look at her shop; she has quite an eye for vintage-mod. Thank you Valerie.

New Wedding Pages

Greetings! Last night I was excited to discover that Blogger has incorporated a new html element allowing you to add pages to your blog. If you look above you will see the additional sections:

For our Wedding Party, there is a section (soon to be filled) with links and ideas primarily for the bridesmaids and groomsmen.

The Registry is a link for gift ideas and other organizations we would like to support.

Maps and Lodging will be a small section of the hotels we have blocked as well as maps to the wedding and perhaps around Savannah as well.

Lastly, Savannah will be a little, "What to Do" page for many of our out of town guests who would like a little help seeing what's going on in our fair city.

Perhaps flats?

Whew! Who can believe it's already June? Slippers might be appropriate with all of the running around we've been up to. Looking back at my blog, I realize that there's not a single post in May. Russ and I have been busy planning the details of our "escape" back to the States. We'll keep you posted as to when and where we'll be. In the meantime, please get me your complete names and addresses so I can send out the Save-the-Dates with invitations to follow. Thank you!

Our Soon-to-be Photographer

*******************

We're really looking forward to working with photographer, Geoff Johnson. In his words, "Cool. I'm often booked by creative types... love it". Have a look at his site. He's pretty creative and versatile.

Rehearsal Dinner at Local?

*******************

We're thinking about having the rehearsal dinner at Local11ten, a great little restaurant on Bull Street a block up from Forsythe Park. Heck, after that we could all head over next door to the Legion and get $1 drinks for the ladies (assuming the rehearsal dinner could have been on a Thursday).

I'm Thinking Tan for the Men

*******************

For the Groomsmen: Although tan's a more summery choice, I think it will be a lot gentler in Ashby's Garden and will blend well with the Tiffany Blue and Poppy Red of the gals.

For the Wedding Cake: Bluebirds

*******************

I have always loved bluebirds especially during the ridiculously cold winters of my college days in Gambier, Ohio. Imagine a piercing blue sky, bleached corn husks covered in blinding snow, and then the diving of bluish-violet feathers. It's a sight I will never forget. My fellow and I are big fans of Mr. Audubon and quite aptly, the bluebird happens to be New York's State bird. On Etsy: Pair of Ceramic Birds - Peking Turquoise Blue Crackle Glaze

For Mom's Cherry Cheese Tarts

*******************

Many, many years our lovely little cherry tree in the backyard delighted us around my April birthday with its pinkish white papery blossoms only to yield the most tart, sour cherries late in June. My sister, Melanie and I labored to pit these lustrous beauties.... but the rewards! : homemade cherry pies, preserves, and best of all, cherry cheese tarts. These little cupcake wrappers will do the trick and you will all leave wanting the recipe, I promise.

More Invitation Inspiration

*******************

It's getting more difficult to narrow down my choices. I really like this etsy shop: By Invitation Only and love her color combinations and choices of mixed palette envelopes.

Playing Catch-Up

*******************

Happy Easter! I find it quite unbelievable that so much time has passed since my last entry (much to the consistent reminders of my sisters). It's *finally* Spring here on Geoje Island and with the fresh air comes streets lined with cherry blossoms and a bit more time to work on nuptials. As you can imagine, planning a wedding is one thing, planning it from the other side of the world is another creature altogether.

Red, White and...

*******************

I love these combinations. I'm definitely love the first veil and hope I can make something like it. If anyone sees a pair of sassy strappy red heels, please let me know! I'm a size 7.5 :)
